In European business aviation, the Cessna 850 Citation Columbus aircraft is in high demand among premium segment customers. It has proven to be reliable, safe and has outstanding technical characteristics. We should also highlight the high level of comfort, which allows organizing VIP flights for holidays or business purposes. Due to the above-mentioned advantages of a private jet, the Cessna 850 Citation Columbus model is often found at medium and large airports in Europe, allowing for a quick departure or approach to the place desired by the client.
You can rent a business jet with a crew for a private flight for any purpose. The company “Jets Privados” will help you choose a model based on your preferences: the year of manufacture, the layout of the cabin, the number of passengers, the volume of the luggage compartment, the characteristics of the food and other details. Aircraft Features
Cessna is known worldwide as one of the leading aircraft manufacturers. Recently, its Citation business jet line has been expanded with a new addition – the Cessna Citation Columbus. The aircraft has become a true innovation in the aviation field and breaks numerous records in size and technical and flight characteristics among competitors in its class.
The aircraft will be equipped with next-generation and highly reliable control systems, which will ensure uninterrupted supply and collection of drinking and used water, temperature control, etc.
The aircraft will be differentiated from previous Citation models by a supercritical wing with a 26.6° chord sweep. Judging from three released renderings, the wing area will slightly exceed 700 square feet (65 m2). Thus, the wing’s relative aspect ratio will be approximately 9:1. To improve takeoff and landing characteristics, the wing will be equipped with large Fowler-type preflaps and flaps. Extensive use of area rules in the airframe design, including the installation of a 14.3 m (47 ft) wing-fuselage fairing, a narrowed fuselage tail section, and a large tail stabilizer fairing, is reminiscent of the drag-reducing measures used on the Citation X.
The eight-passenger Citation Model 850 Columbus will sell for $27 million (2008 dollars). According to the company, it will have a maximum cruise speed of 488 knots (Mach 0.85), will fly 4,000 nautical miles before stopping for refueling, and will be powered by new fuel-efficient, low-noise, low-emission Pratt & Whitney turbofan engines. The cabin, at a certified ceiling of 45,000 feet, will have an altitude of 6,700 feet. The cockpit will feature the new Rockwell Collins Pro Line Fusion avionics system, and the latest in-flight entertainment capabilities, including Internet access, will be installed in the cabin.
Interior and cabin
With an external fuselage diameter of 2.2 meters, the passenger cabin measures 2.1 meters high, 1.9 meters wide and 11 meters long. The cabin thus has approximately twice the volume of the Citation X. The designers have also provided for a single level floor along the entire length of the cabin and access to the rear luggage compartment during flight.
Externally, the Columbus resembles the sleek, Mach 0.92 Citation X on steroids. But Cessna has rethought nearly everything about the aircraft’s interior. Unlike other Citations, the Columbus will have a flat floor and a vertical body height equivalent to that of high-end Gulfstreams. It will also feature a cabin that is at least two feet longer than any other aircraft in its class.
The Columbus will include other important design elements: a large cockpit door, entry area and galley; a shower and pantry; and an accessible baggage compartment during flight.
